Fair work first policy

The Mallaig Community Hub and Shop SCIO Adopts a Fair Work First Policy in accordance with public sector funding requirements

Effective voice

The Mallaig Community Hub and Shop supports the development of a working and volunteering environment where there is space for people to be heard, where people can have choice and participate. Staff and volunteers will be encouraged to ask questions, raise concerns and seek support. Staff and volunteers will have an annual review and survey.

Investment in workforce

Learning and development will be supported across the organisation at all levels. The organisation will engage in performance and development planning.

No inappropriate use of Zero Hours contracts

Zero hours contracts may be considered for seasonal staffing if necessary given the seasonal nature of the trade in Mallaig. Zero hours contracts will be reviewed regularly.

Action to create a diverse and inclusive workplace

The Mallaig Community Hun and Shop is committed to an inclusive culture.

Payment of the living wage

This organisation ensures that those employed at the bottom of the pay scale will reflect the living wage.

Flexible and family friendly working practice

When the Mallaig Community Hub and Shop is in a position to create volunteer and paid opportunities every effort will be made to meet the needs of the organisation, the job, the employee and the team. Where possible flexibility and remote working will be accepted.
